20 foods that are bad for your health (to avoid!)

Here is a list of 20 foods that are very unhealthy in general.

If you want to lose weight and prevent chronic disease, then you should not eat many of these foods.

In many cases, the best way to completely avoid.

This article mentions healthier alternatives whenever possible.

1. Sugary Drinks

Sugar [1] is the only one in the modern diet ingredient worse.

However, some sources of sugar are worse than others, and sugary drinks are the absolute worst [2] .

However, agave syrup is not as healthy as some think. This is a very refined sweeteners, which is extremely high in fructose.

The truth is that agave is in fructose than other sugars even higher.

While table sugar contains 50% fructose corn syrup and high fructose about 55%, agave syrup is 85% fructose ( 26 ).

Alternatives: Stevia [31] and erythritol [32] are healthy, natural, zero calories. There is a list of several more healthy and natural sweeteners in this article [33] .

11 low-fat yogurt

Yogurt [34] can be incredibly healthy.

Unfortunately, most yogurts are found in the supermarket, very bad for you.

They are often loaded into little fat, but with sugar, compensate for the lack of taste, provide fats.

In other words, the yogurt, healthy and natural had milk [35] fat removed to something worse to be replaced.

In addition, many yogurts have not actually contain probiotic bacteria [36] , as is generally believed. Often they have been pasteurized after fermentation, which kills all bacteria.

Alternatives: Choose yogurt with live cultures all regular fat or assets (probiotics) contains. When you get your hand, choose yogurt from grass-fed cows.

12. Low-carb junk food

There are many real foods you eat on a low carb diet, most of which are in very good health.

However, this is not true replacement low in processed carbohydrates such as treated low-carb [38] and a meal replacement.

These are highly processed foods usually contain very little actual food, just mixed a lot and sold as a dietary artificial ingredients.

Alternatives: If you are on a low carb diet, eating foods that are naturally low in carbohydrates. Low-carb junk food is still junk food.

13. Ice Cream

Ice is one of the most delicious food in the world.

Unfortunately, it is also one of the unhealthiest. Most commercial ice cream loaded with sugar.

Ice is also rich in calories and is very easy to overeat. Food for dessert is even worse, because then you add to your total calorie intake.

Alternatives: You can make your own ice cream with healthy ingredients and a lot less (or no) sugar.

They are rich in sugar, refined flour and trans fats. They are very low in important nutrients.

Processed foods such as candy are usually designed to be super tasty (if you eat more), and are designed to eat too fast.

Alternatives: eat a piece of fruit [39] in force, or a piece of real high cocoa dark chocolate [40] .

15. Meat

Although raw meat [41] can be healthy and nutritious, the same can not be said of processed meat.

Studies show that people who eat sausages have a higher risk for many serious diseases, including colon cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease ( 27 , 28 ).

Most of these studies are observational in nature and can not demonstrate that meat causes the disease therefore.

However, the statistical relationship is strong and consistent across studies, so I think it's something.

Alternatives: If you want to eat bacon [42] , sausages, sausages and other meat "processed" and choose wisely and try to buy locally providers who are not a lot of unhealthy ingredients. Quality counts.

16 Cheese

Regular cheese [43] is healthy.

It is loaded with nutrients and a slice of cheese contains the same nutrients as solid glass milk [44] .

However, processed cheese products are nothing like regular cheese. Most of them are combined filler ingredients and designed to have a similar look and cheesy.

Cheese is healthy, but not cheese. Read the labels and make sure that the cheese is actually eating cheese.

Alternatives: eat real cheese instead.

17. Most fast food

In general, the chain of "fast food" is used only junk food.

Most of the food offered is mass-produced, high-tech junk food with little nutritional value.

These places are very cheap in general, but keep in mind that junk food, twice the cost.

For every dollar you save it there, chances are, it will cost much more in the future. Poor health is expensive.
