Juice [12] It is often assumed to be healthy, but it is wrong.

Many fruit juices are actually a little more than sugar flavored water.

It is true that the juice contains antioxidants and vitamin C, but this must be weighed against the large amount of liquid sugar.

In fact, the juice contains as much sugar as a sweet drink like Coca-Cola or Pepsi, and sometimes even more ( 11 ).

Alternatives: There are some fruit juices that have proven health benefits, despite the sugar content, such as Granada juice and blueberries [13] juice.

However, they must be seen as complementary, not something you drink every day, to quench the thirst. Drink water [14] into effect.

5. Industrial vegetable oils

Over the past 100 years, people have increased their consumption of added fats.

The production of vegetable oil

However this was only in a drastic increase in consumption of refined vegetable oils such as soybean [15] oil, corn [16] , oil, cotton seed oil and rape seed oil [17] .

Alternatives: Use healthy fats such as coconut oil [19] , butter, extra virgin olive oil [20] or avocado oil instead.

6. Margarine

Margarine

Margarine [21] are used to be as a healthy alternative to butter.

Fortunately, most people have realized that this is far from true.

Margarine is a highly processed pseudo-food, which is designed to look and taste like butter around.

It is loaded with artificial ingredients and is usually done with the industrial vegetable oils that have been hydrogenated to make them solid. This increases their trans fat [22] clearly content.

Please be aware that manufacturers may [23] , its "trans fat free" as long as products contain less than 0.5 grams per serving, which still mark a significant amount.

Alternatives: Use real butter [24] instead, preferably grass-fed [25] cows.

The problem with many diets without gluten [28] is that people replace foods that pass the gluten in processed junk foods that contain gluten free.

This gluten substitutes are often high in sugar, unhealthy oils and refined grains, such as corn starch or tapioca. These refined starches cause rapid spikes in blood sugar and are extremely low in essential nutrients.

Alternatives: Choose foods that are gluten-free by nature, and untransformed plants and feed. Gluten junk food is still junk food.

10. Agave

Maple syrup

Agave [29] is a sweetener that is often marketed as healthy.

However, agave syrup is not as healthy as some think. It is a very refined sweetener, which is very rich in fructose.

High amounts of fructose from sweeteners (fruit not together) can be quite disastrous [30] for health ( 25 ).

The truth is that the agave is in fructose than other sugar even higher.

Considering that table sugar contains 50% fructose syrup with a high content of about 55% fructose corn, agave syrup is 85% fructose ( 26 ).

Alternatives: Stevia [31] and erythritol [32] are healthy, natural, non-caloric. There is a list of several more healthy and natural sweetener, which in this article [33] .

12. Low carb foods spam

Atkins Bar

Diet low in carbohydrates [37] are very popular these days, and have for several decades.

There are plenty of real food you can on a low carb diet, most of which to eat in very good health.

However, this does not apply to spare low processed carbohydrates, and low in carbohydrates is, [38] and meal replacement.

These are usually highly processed foods that very little actual food, just a bunch of artificial ingredients are mixed together and then sold as foods that contain.

Alternatives: If you are a low-carb diet, eating foods that are low in carbohydrates, of course. Low-carb junk food is still junk food.

Girl eating ice cream

Chocolate bar 14th

Energy Bar

Chocolate bars are very unhealthy

They are rich in sugar, refined flour and processed fats. They are also very low in essential nutrients.

Processed foods, such as chocolate bars are usually designed so that very tasty (if you eat more), and are designed to be very easy to eat quickly.

A bar of chocolate with taste and may cause some short-term satiety, but you get hungry very quickly, can metabolize the sugar candy again because of the way.

Alternatives: eat a piece of fruit [39] in force, or a piece of high real cocoa chocolate black [40] .

15. Meat

Sausages

Although raw meat [41] can be healthy and nutritious, it is not the same for processed meat.

Studies show that people who eat sausages have a higher risk of many serious diseases such as colon cancer, type 2 diabetes and heart disease ( 27 , 28 ).

Most of these studies are observations in nature, it can not prove that treated meat causes diseases.

However, the statistical link is strong and consistent across studies, so I think it's something.

Alternatives: If you want to eat bacon [42] then choose sausage, pepperoni and other sausages "" and wisely and try to buy local providers who do not have a lot of unhealthy ingredients. Quality counts.

16. cheese

Cheese spread

Regular cheese [43] is healthy.

It's loaded with nutrients, and a slice of cheese contains the same nutrients as a fixed glass milk [44] .

However, processed cheese products are not like regular cheese. Most are of filler ingredients are combined and designed to have a similar appearance and texture of the cheese.

Cheese is healthy, but the cheese. Read the labels and make sure that the cheese is actually eating cheese.

Alternatives: Dining actual cheese instead.

In fact, it is very healthy [47] and loaded with antioxidants.

Studies also show that coffee drinkers have a lower risk of serious illnesses such as type 2 diabetes and Parkinson's disease ( 29 , 30 ).

Unfortunately, things are sometimes added to the coffee, which makes this wonderful drink in harmful sludge.

If your "coffee" has a ton of artificial cream and sugar, then it's not good for you.

It is with liquid, empty calories is loaded, and as unhealthy as any other soft drink.

Alternatives: beverage big coffee. Black is best, but small amounts of cream or whole milk are good.

19. All that is rich in sugar, refined grains and vegetable oils

Female label inspection with a magnifying glass

One of the most important things you can do to is to eat healthier in order to read the labels.

  • Refined grains such as white flour.
  • Industrial vegetable oils.
  • Artificial trans fats.

These are some of the healthiest (and most common) ingredients in the modern diet [49] .

The importance of reading labels can not be overestimated, and this applies to all food, even so-called healthy foods [50] .

20. The most highly processed foods

By far the easiest way to eat healthy and lose weight [51] is to avoid processed foods [52] wherever possible.

In short, if it looks like it's made in a factory, then it's probably bad for you.

A good rule to remember is that real food does not require a list of ingredients, as real food is the ingredient.
